Trigeminal Neuralgia - The Worst Pain You can buy?

My Story

I first endured Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN or the tic douloureux) in 1995 i presume was 28. At this time I didn't know what the pain was post was suffering from. I was in the RAF and had just returned from a tour of duty in a favorite Falkland Islands. During that point I had the unconventional twinge, but in no way is this described as pain. On my return the pain increased, so I discovered many dental specialists about the RAF. I was given root canal treatment, Temporomandibular Joint Disorder. For this the mouth technicians made me a couple splints for my smallest teeth. These were 1 and 2mm too much. I wore them for 6 months, but unfortunately they made no difference, as I wasn't getting it. The intense pain affected an area to the correct hand side of my face from inside the chin to below the most effective ear.

None of the treatment that took for about 18 number of years proved successful because these days they didn't know what i was suffering. The pain got so that intense and my job didn't help as i worked on nights just like a radio operator. Part of my job ended up being wear head phones, these only made the problem worse. Talking gazed difficult, eating was troublesome and life wasn't or even pleasant. Temazepam did no real either, the pain was dreadful I had ever borne.

The turning point during my condition came a year after getting the RAF when I discovered the world. I went to Google and typed in 'intense facial pain' extremely waited for the results come back. I found all these types links, but one within the sites listed struck me. I went there and likewise symptoms described were like what I was unwell. The pain is best labeled a bolt of lightning shooting through one side of the face. Enormously . intense, perhaps in my case going on for a few minutes at a time. There was very little generally done to halt then this onslaught. Direct pressure along the area had some influenc, but didn't take that the pain away.

The triggers for the pain may be as mundane as brushing tooth, a breath of wind nicely as talking. Winter and its icey winds were loads worse than summer level of comfort. But by far dreadful offender is eating. Eating is often a nightmare, during the worst occasions it wasn't uncommon for slimming. I wouldn't waste time eating things like apples, lettuce and other food that didn't contain any calories. While to the majority people these foods will work, to a TN sufferer like me these are foods the large majority of avoided, otherwise you will lose weight. When driving a car even the road surface would affect whether the pain kicked in or even. Even when there was no pain, it was sitting there phone waiting for the trigger release a its latest onslaught installation for ultra pain - imagine toothache, only 10 times a whole lot worse! - honest.

Having found whatever i thought was the problem I used to be suffering from I ended in my findings to Goole Professional. The Ears, Nose and Throat specialist confirmed whatever i thought and he directed me Tegretol. Almost immediately I came to be some relief from this. Initially my dosage made an appearance kept low until I on the high saturday the dosage. The problem Discovered with Tegretol was memory loss, and a general a feeling of 'fuzziness'. I couldn't are removed them as the pain was too intense, but they were becoming less useful to my sickness. Sometimes, dependent on the dose I took that day, and the amount to be able to I ate I had a sense of slight overdose - dizzy is not the word. It only happened a couple of times, and it wasn't excellent.

The specialist at Goole referred me regarding your Consultant Neurosurgeon at Hull Royal. Here I had one of these MRI brain scan covering the Hull Royal Scan Packaging, this confirmed, and gave a more expensive indication of what occuring. Armed with my scans I then trafficed one of the Neurologists wearing a hospital. He thought it be recommended if I was admitted as soon as possible for an operation to numb the anguish. I was admitted into hospital associated with Monday morning a week later.

Radio Frequency Coagulation Operation

The operation I wanted to do have was a Radio frequency Coagulation. This is administ
